Our day of shooting Ohio Rail Diamonds begins in Fostoria, where we see CSX trains, including ones from Toledo connecting to the east-west mainline, and trains on that line going both directions. Then we move east to Attica Junction where the same Pittsburgh/Cleveland CSX mainline crosses the Norfolk Southern line between Columbus and Belleview. Then…
Enjoy some of the biggest steam power that operated in the United States as we present 2-8-8-2’s, and 2-6-6-4 articulated steam power on the Norfolk & Western Railway. Most of the films were shot on the Cincinnati to Portsmouth line, the western end of the Norfolk & Western Railway. Steam freight operations ended in 1956,…
Montana Combo is a great combination of two Montana railroad related subjects. First we see Burlington Northern’s Marias Pass, a 35 minute program shot in 1990 along this former Great Northern line, and then we have a 60 minute program “Montana Rails” which was shot in 2001 on the regional hauler Montana Rail Link (MRL)….
Washington State’s Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad is the location of this presentation which features the two rarest types of geared steam locomotives. Heisler #90, a 90-ton, 3-truck locomotive built in 1930 is joined by the newly restored Climax #10. The Climax is ex-Hillcrest Lumber Co. which operated on Vancouver Island, and was the last standard…

Take a trip to nine states and one Canadian province in search of historic early diesel locomotives! The Lima-built 2-8-4 looks good and sounds great as it blasts along on former Chesapeake & Ohio trackage.
See Southern 4501 throughout her career. Including rare film of 4501 working on the Kentucky & Tennessee RR in the early 1960’s.
In her red, orange, and black Daylight paint, SP 4449 makes a run to LA .

See the golden age of railroading in films of that period with four vintage films from the 1930s to early 1950s. The highlight film is a 20 minute New York Central film showing the famous Hudson (4-6-4) locomotive – from operations to servicing. The Pennsylvania Railroad is represented with the tourist-targeted “On To Washington”. In…
Pere Marquette 2-8-4 #1225 heads several freight specials.
The Union Pacific’s Donner Summit line crosses the Sierra Nevada range at over seven thousand feet. Keeping this “All Season Pass” open is vital to the railroad and California’s economy.
High praise for this DVD from those who know: “Better than The Battle For Donner Pass” – Carl Bradley, former superintendent of the Roseville Service Unit.
Step back to 1991 to watch as Union Pacific sends double stack and intermodal trains through their recently upgraded, former Western Pacific, Feather Canyon and its challenging terrain.

The country’s railroading capital, with a network of rail lines unlike anywhere else in the nation.
The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe was one of America’s great railroads. It survives today as part of the giant BNSF system. But not that long ago it was independent.
Stretching across the mountains and deserts of Arizona, the Santa Fe mainline is a double-tracked ribbon of high-density railroading at its finest.
Pentrex takes you back to the late 1950s and early 1960s for a close-up look at the waning years of steam locomotives in America’s railroads. Originally two shows, “The East” and “The West”, both are now on one disc.
Pentrex visited the “Big Sky” country of Montana in 1990 to witness the operations of what was then one of the county’s newest regional railroads, the Montana Rail Link.
From the Pentrex archives comes a stunning collection of five films produced during the 1940s and 1950s by the Association of American Railroads.
Railroads powered entirely by Alco diesel locomotives are few in number. The Green Bay & Western Railroad had a total of sixteen operating Alco’s when this show was filmed in 1992.
