Self proclaimed Standard Railroad of the World, the Pennsylvania Railroad or “Pennsy” was widely known for its blue ribbon passenger service, GG-1 electric locomotives, landmark locations like Horse Shoe curve and Rockville Bridge and its well groomed high speed multi track mainline which was referred to as the Broadway. But the Pennsy also had a vast array of branch and secondary lines to service industries in many smaller towns and communities which were rarely photographed.

In this program, we’ll venture off the beaten main line tracks and chase general freight, ore and coal trains from Williamsport to Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania in the mid 1950s through the early 1960s.

Has excellent footage of the decapods. The video quality is a bit grainy, but the rare footage of the decapods on this remote branchline makes up for it

I like the DVDs from John Pechulis. They are well done and I thoroughly enjoy the narration by Mike Bednar. He’s a railroader and adds to the film with his first hand knowledge of railroads and the areas being viewed. This is a great Pennsy video with super coverage of the Elmira Branch and the many ore trains and I1s Decapods used there. There are also a lot of early diesels like E and F-units, Sharks and lots of Baldwin switchers, even a GE 44 tonner at work. So much action! If you’re an SPF or just like vintage action this is a must have DVD.
