In the first half of the program, we follow the CSX Transportation Metropolitan Subdivision towards Washington, from Knoxville to Rockville, calling at Brunswick, Point of Rocks, Pepco, and Gaithersburg along the way.
Exploring West Virginia in May 2017, we feature the fascinating gear-driven Shay and Heisler steam locomotives to be found on the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad and working the steep climbs of the Cass Scenic Railroad.
The program begins by soaking in the glorious fall colours while following the BNSF Staples Sub of the Northern Transcon, in Minnesota, from Detroit Lakes to Hawley, with locations near Lake Park and Manitoba Jct.
Our fourth visit to Texas, the Lone Star State, focuses on railroads to the North and South of Fort Worth. Locations to the North include Denton, Argyle, Ponder, and Keller.
This program focuses on the BNSF main close to the eastern banks of the Mississippi River in Wisconsin, from Prescott at the border with Minnesota in the north, to just across the southern state border to Savanna, Illinois.
Scenic and busy rail points close to the banks of the Mississippi River including St Paul, Hastings, Red Wing, Maple Springs, Reads Landing, and the spectacular Mt Charity overlook.
Our third visit to The Lone Star State concentrates on operations northwest of Houston, in the region traversed by the Brazos River.
In our second visit to New Mexico, The Land of Enchantment, we concentrate on operations in the eastern half of the state, featuring the BNSF Southern Transcon, but also showing Union Pacific trains on the route between Logan and Vaughn that heads south to el Paso.
The program begins with Union Pacific trains through Manly (left), Mason City and Iowa Falls, where a BNSF coal train on CN tracks is also seen heading towards the UP/CN diamond. Returning to Mason City, the veteran Baldwin steeple-cab electric locos of the Iowa Traction Railway are featured.
Travelling along the BNSF main that skirts the eastern banks of the Mississippi, we feature scenes including the lift bridge over the Croix River at Prescott, crude oil at Bay City, and Nelson, and CitiRail ES44AC locos thru Hager, before sampling CP, NS and CSX traffic at La Crosse.

The program begins from the overlook on the southern shores of Lake Pend Oreille, near the western limit of the Montana Rail Link at Sandpoint, Idaho.
In our second visit to Texas, the Lone Star state, this edition of American Railway focuses on the High Plains region in the Texas panhandle.
This route is dominated by the ubiquitous GE Dash-9, but we will get to see other BNSF locos, in new and old paint.
We follow the route of the mighty Columbia River, along the banks of which the mainlines of the Union Pacific and BNSF Railroads run.
