Enjoy the fall scenery in the area around Duluth on the shores of Lake Superior, including a visit to the North Shore Scenic Railroad tourist line (below).

Hear CN SD-40’s slogging up the grade thru Proctor (right), hauling ore jennies that carry the taconite iron ore pellet traffic to the lakeside ports. Follow CP operations to the west of Minneapolis in glorious locations such as Paynesville (front cover).

Sample UP trains on the route south from St Paul to Iowa, including a Siemens S70 LRV carried on a flat car for delivery to Metro Transit. Several scenes feature the beauty of sunrise and sunset, enhancing the autumn colours.
