Flickertail & Gopher Trains ND-MN Borderlands

The program begins by soaking in the glorious fall colours while following the BNSF Staples Sub of the Northern Transcon, in Minnesota, from Detroit Lakes to Hawley, with locations near Lake Park and Manitoba Jct.* Shortline traction is viewed through Sabin on the Otter Tail Valley Railroad, and by the Red River Valley & Western engine house at Breckenridge.* BNSF trains through Wahpeton, ND, feature before returning to Minnesota to the track operated by CP through Elbow Lake.* Filming locations in North Dakota included the Sheyenne River railroad bridge (near Karnak and Luverne), Tower City, Valley City (BNSF and CP tracks), and Sanborn, and in conditions beset by heavy rain and strong winds at Casselton, Cleveland and Medina. Filming before daybreak is included at Sanborn, ND, and Detroit Lakes, MN.* Several scenes feature 2-camera action sequences, offering additional views of the passing trains. Filming was carried out in October 2013.
