GE’s GEVOs have become the locomotive of choice for class one railroads and some regionals in the United States. Since then, many of the older mainline EMDs have been either purchased by regionals and shortlines or retired and scrapped. In Volume 3, we find them in North Dakota, Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska and Colorado. NOTE: This series is a compilation of great video. Some video has appeared in other CVP programs.

BNSF still runs several trains with older EMDs on their Staples Sub in Minnesota. A huge variety of 4 and 6 axle EMDs can be seen on both local and road freights. BN colors still adorn few locomotives while many are dressed in BNSF black and orange. Most of these locomotives are on borrowed time, so capturing these now was a must.

Our crews braved the elements for you – capturing train movements on days when the air temperature dipped to 15 below zero.
