See SP mainline and local freights, Santa Fe freights with both blue and “Kodachrome” SP merger motive power, Western Pacific F Units and Geep’s on the Union Pacific, caboose operations, the overnight “Spirit of California” train and Southern Pacific commute action with both heavyweight and bi-level equipment. See the last day of PCC car operations on San Francisco’s L,N,K, and J Lines. Also included are train operations on now dormant trackage of the SP’s Brentwood Line and the abandoned Santa Fe’s Pasadena trackage.. This video also includes footage of the Southern Pacific numbers 2472 and 4449, along with Union Pacific’s 844 and Challenger 3985 on steam excursions to the Sacramento Railfair, R&LHS Convention, and the 1984 World’s Fair.Relive a time when railroading action in California was colorful and exciting.
