The Canadian Pacific purchased both the Dakota Minnesota and Eastern and sister railroad, Iowa Chicago and Eastern in October of 2007. Ownership formally changed hands in 2008. Although the Iowa Chicago and Eastern had a short life, the railroad changed the face of the former Milwaukee Road lines.
