For Robert Federle, it all started in the mid 1950s. His Grandfather worked for Railway Express Agency and would take him trackside, and the bug had bitten.
In the mid 70s, Emery Gulash brought his 16mm camera to West Virginia and lovingly photographed the Western Maryland before its total absorption by the Chessie System.

Revisit the treacherous Sand Patch route between 1982 and 1984. Though under the umbrella of CSX, the Chessie System maintained its identity at this time and the busy train operations remained largely unchanged.
