I like this video, it does a good job of showing with a enormous yard Bailey is. Part of the video narration is done during a bus tour and while it’s interesting to hear that and some of the questions I think it would have been better to be able to have the narration actually done for the video itself. It is interesting to see the hump operations, and other facilities in the yard.

A very informative video, explaining exactly the operations at Bailey Yard. Every thing from the hump yard to the run through tracks to engine service facility. This is a wonderful video to watch and learn

Having taken a vacation to see the Golden Spike Tower & UP’s Bailey Yard (July 2014) in North Platte NE, I was quite interested to see this video, and finally purchased it. I really enjoy the way the video opens with sights from the air. That gives a good insight into the gigantic size of the yard. Then there is the bus tour. Listening to the speaker, and all the questions being asked… we learn a great deal about Bailey Yard, it’s operations, and the people who work there. It is extremely informative and very interesting to hear. The video camera does not always focus on what the speaker is talking about. Now…. remember…. this is a bus tour. There are people on the tour with children. Many people these days take a dim view to their faces or children being seen on a video, espescially if there is no financial compensation for it. Therefore…. the video camera stays primarily in one spot while on tour missing some of what the speaker is talking about. I believe that the bus tour was very well done and the speaker and videographer did their best on this segment. Following the bus tour, there is ground level scenes on the west end at a location referred to as “the Throat”. Basically where the yard begins. Then the videographer moves further west towards O’Fallons for some mainline action. The ground level scenes could have used some good narration or more screen graphics. That is really the only flaw I seen in the video from a personal prospective. Definitely one of the producer’s better videos. Well done over all. High marks for this presentation.
