Sweet Steam, The declining sugar cane railways of Java, Indonesia, still host a wide variety of elderly, exotic colorful steam engines in both the cane fields and the mills. They also have a variety of diesel “critters” working hard. Steam from O&K, including unique inside frame geared Luttermoller’s, Jung, Ducroo & Brauns, BMAG, the last fireless locos in Java and others. The little engines are worked hard, often brutally so, and some of the exhaust noise is awesome!. Water Buffalo are used in the cane fields to haul cane wagons to the “main line”. Plus you’ll ride on the engines, be chased by a train, and see some local life, including lots of curious kids!

Steam to Janakpurdham, Tipong Coal Mine is in India, on the border with Burma. In 2006 this little line ran the oldest steam locomotive in regular service – in the world. Living on borrowed time, this 2 foot gauge railway takes coal from the mine through the jungle to a truck loading facility. Far from tourist destinations, this seldom visited little line is full of charm and character! And then: We charter a steam powered passenger train! The Janakpur Railway runs from Jaynagar, India to Janakpurdham, Nepal. This 2 6 gauge line has now dieselized, ride behind an 0-6-2 Hunswell Clarke side tank, built in 1930.

wowwww, near primitive railroading compared to what we see today in North America. People have little to no reguards for safety as seen in the video. And to see how the people work….. labour unions here would have a total fit. Plenty of old tiny little steam engines working very hard so people can earn something to feed themselves and their families. This is an exciting video that I am highly pleased to have purchased .
