Harvey Laner recorded exciting railroad action through California’s Tehachapi Mountains. This program brings together his best work capturing dramatic sights and sounds of the pre-merger period from 1988 to 1996. It was a time when SP scarlet and gray and Santa Fe war bonnets still dominated these mountains. Harvey narrates the program and describes his transition from 8mm film movies to a progression of video cameras used to capture audio and visual images.

br>”All I can say is – Wow! I am very pleased with this release and feel that it ranks at the top for vintage Tehachapi footage. Charles Smiley Productions has released a number of great DVDs over the years, but this is easily my favorite. The DVD is filmed and narrated by Harvey Laner, who does an excellent job at both, and shows the progression of his camera equipment used to film, along with his videography-skills. The quality and clarity of the footage is superb. Laner had an understandable fascination with the SP Oil Cans and spends a good amount of time filming the train in many different locations. Laner used great angles to film in many different weather conditions and often utilized difficult-to-access locations. A great variety of diesel-power is shown. If you are a fan of “pre-merger” Tehachapi, I guarantee you will not be disappointed with this release.”
