It’s January through June, 1955 and the New York Central was still running steam on its Ohio Division, the old Big Four Route in Ohio. Much of the action is around Bellefontaine (pronounced Bell-fountain) and is quite fast paced. We’ll see Hudsons, Mohawks, Mikados, and an occasional diesel or Niagara on passenger and freight trains.
Our filmographer is Don Krofta and a quite a dramatic shooter, giving us great detail views others omit. Mostly shot in classic B&W, there are many original sounds recorded at the time by Jim Hawk.
