Let’s revel in the glory of the Pennsylvania Railroad in the 1950s! We’re in the busy New York City and Pittsburgh areas of the Pennsy and so we see every kind of motive power running: steam, diesel and electric power in operation on the Long Island Rail Road – a subsidiary of the Pennsy.
We hunt on the New York & Long Branch, and at Elizabeth, New Jersey plus the massive Enola Yard and other great spots. Locomotives include H-9/10s, G-5s, K-4s, M-1s, I-1s, big electric GG-1’s, MP-54s and diesels by EMD, Baldwin, Alco and others. We also see the CNJ. This is crisp, mostly color, 16mm film from Ben Young, Jr.
