Kansas City is home to some of the most intense railroading anywhere, with upwards of 400 trains a day passing through. We take a look at the old industrial area of The Bottoms, with trains from BNSF, UP, NS, Amtrak & KCT. We also spend time at BN Crossing, with trains on three levels and continuous action throughout the day. Lots of different power and paint schemes. This is an awesome railroad hot spot! No narration, just lots of train action and train sounds.

Highball Productions definitely misses the mark with no narration, a lack of train symbols/ info, and lengthy runtime. Camera work is good, although its hard to mess up when you stay pretty stagnant. Audio is good. Since the filming the crossing has been removed from Santa Fe st and W 12th st, right by the old union depot tower, making that spot inaccessible. Overall this area of KC can be a little rougher and might not be best to railfan by yourself.

A non-stop parade of trains in an industrial setting with a lot of personality. A variety of railroads, locomotive paint schemes and consists keeps you waiting to see what’s coming next. And at more than two and a half hours in length, there’s a lot to see. One of my favorites in Highball’s “Hot Spots” series.

This video over all is great. Lots of action on all levels. Lots of heavy drags from the various railroad companies. But…. with no narration and very little screen graphics…. where is the story to help a railfan who may want to go there to see it in person?

KC fan –
This show is great, but I see no reason why it couldn’t have been narrated. it should have had narration.

This is more than a hot spot – it is a tribute to the area of KC known as The Bottoms. Lots of action. You’ll enjoy this one.
