On April 29th 2001, Frisco 1522 ran from St. Louis to Newburg and return for a break-in run preceding its scheduled pulling of BNSF Employee Appreciation Special. Included is the 4-8-2 pulling its head end cars and freight, looking and sounding great, especially assaulting Rolla Hill! Also on May 18th we followed the 1522 and 4 passenger cars from St. Louis to Springfield MO., and on the19th, pulling the special into Oklahoma. A mix of freights is also added. An additional 15+ minutes of the 1522 pulling freight on its way home to St. Louis after Railroad Days in Galesburg is also included From 1995. The locomotive is sporting a 5 chime whistle reported to have come from a CB&Q 2-8-2 Mikado. It sounds great.

Prior to the 2001 BNSF Employee Appreciation Specials in late May & Early June, the 1926 Baldwin Built Mountain Class 4-8-2 would operate multiple freight trains in Rain and/or Shine.

Here’s the segments shown in order:

    1. 1522 from St. Louis to Newburg & Dillon MO on April 29, 2001 which is the same route the engine operated during the 1990 NRHS Convention, but at Robertsville MO, a mother was having a serious Argument with some naughty kids about safety.

    2. 1522 preparing for the BNSF Employee Appreciation Specials to Springfield MO & Tulsa OK on May 18th & & to go as far as White Oak OK on the 19th, but at Northview MO, it’s already Downpouring, while later at Springfield, a Santa Fe Military train crawls through the departure tracks while waiting for the Steam Special.

And 3. a late June 1995 flashback in Illinois & Missouri where 1522 wore a high-pitched Burlington Route Whistle from a 2-8-2 Mikado during the filming of the made for HBO TV movie: Truman starring Gary Sinise & Toby from Thomas & the Magic Railroad’s Colm Feore, as the engine traveled westward home from the Hot Spot of Galesburg to Kirkwood.

Along the Way, there are some BNSF Freights with today’s orange pumpkins, as well as Old Fallen Flags from Santa Fe’s Red & Silver Warbonets, to Burlington Northern’s Cascade Green units.

As always, almost each & every title that the late Roger Holmes produced is 100% Un-Narrated.

Fun fact: on the May & June 2001 BNSF specials, Pentrex, & Les Jarrett of Railway Productions were also there for the annual event as well.
