Follow steam locomotive Frisco 1522 on an historic journey through Texas as she pulls a long train – the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Employee Appreciation Special. Starting in Ft. Worth, the train headed south through Temple and on to Houston and Silsbee – a whole new territory for this powerful 4-8-2 Mountain-type locomotive. The 1522 got a good workout, producing intense bursts of stack talk while lugging 16 gleaming passenger cars through the Texas Hills. She performed flawlessly, highballing over former Santa Fe track at incredible speeds. You’ll follow the 1522 on her travels for a total of 8 days, spotting railroad icons such as Tower 55, Tower 17, T&NO Junction, and more. On the run out to Silsbee and back the Special traversed the former Southern Pacific Sunset Route between Houston and Beaumont. The train passed small towns and rolled through beautiful, rural landscapes. Crossing rivers, stomping up hills, and sprinting across the countryside, the locomotive was a sight to behold. Join us trackside for a fantastic show of steam railroading as the 1522 conquers the Lone Star State.

Once again, Pentrex… BRAVO! 🙂 This 2001 event was a rare treat to witness, soon before the horrific events of September 11th changed the world forever… and soon before the locomotive would be retired back to the National Museum Of Transportation in 2002. Excellent detail of the locations and trackage history as always…

It’s a great to watch Frisco 1522 pull a train through Texas with it’s beautiful whistle and the mighty chugging sound it makes. Definitely made a good deal for me!

I loved all the locations, action, and explanation of the video. Pentrex always does a great job of putting these together. Would definitely recommend this to anyone considering purchasing it! Especially if it’s on sale!

Frisco 1522 gave a great performance, the scenery is beautiful, and Pentrex includes maps to help explain the trip plans. We also see her in a variety of contexts both in rural scenery and in urban rail settings.

What a great movie about the old 1522, going thru cities like Temple and other cities. Seeing it pulling the passenger cars, what a sight. Lots of action and beautiful scenery. Worth the money.

I would have rated it a 5 stars except they had the “dismal” behind the 1522. But this is the best 1522 tape ever, because it covers about 8 days of her BNSF Employee Appreciation trips. Plus she does a heck of a lot of stack talk, which she was great at. I have watched it many times, never get tired of it. If you ain’t got it order it now.
