Eastern Illinois ALCOs

Deep in the corn belt in Eastern Illinois, the familiar sound of ALCO fills the air. Marking their arrival with the familiar chugging and black exhaust, a Kankakee, Beaverville and Southern train is seen working hard through Greer, Illinois. The dirty blue diesels on the head of the train signify their years of service on the railroad and their importance to the area’s agricultural industry. The KB&S is remembered for its fleet of now-gone blue ALCO’s (plus a few red from the GB&W and California Western), but you can see them hard at work again in “Eastern Illinois ALCOs”
