Classic Midwest Rails Volume 4 part 1 is more great footage from the lens of Jonathan Reck’s sound film camera, this time in the upper Great Lakes region of Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin. Jonathan Reck went along with Ken Bealer and Joe Nemeth in 1982 to photograph the Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range, the Chicago Northwestern and the Green Bay & Western. This is Part 1 of what will be a two part trip through the upper Great Lakes.
Our railfan/camera operators follow the DM&IR, then head over to Escanaba, Michigan where they chase an Escanaba to Green Bay ore train behind high-hood Chicago Northwestern Alco C628’s.

Excellent coverage of the DMIR and CNW. Gotta love hearing those smoky C628’s and their awful sounding N&W S5 horns. Nice sounds and color, a great Midwest program.
