The 1994 Atlanta NRHS Convention trains are seen as they roam the South. We’ll see Frisco 1522 pulling both passenger and freight and watch as N&W 611 struts her stuff with a long passenger excursion in tow. And, we see 1522 and 611 doubleheading! In 1994, big steam gathered in Atlanta – and we take you back to that time.

A detailed look at what the 1994 NRHS Convention was all about! 1522 and 611 looked and sounded their absolute best during the entire event. This is 2 hours of pure joy and excitement you do not want to miss! You will get to see portions of 1522’s long trek to Birmingham before witnessing her and 611 in a doubleheader for the ages! Also covered are the individual trips out of Atlanta that both locomotives undertake. You will also get to see them doublehead for a SECOND time as well! The sound quality of this production is absolutely second to none, and the variety/overall number of runby shots taken is unmatched by any other DVD. Grab your favorite snack and crank up the volume!

It’s hard to imagine that 25 years ago next month in 1994, The city of Atlanta Georgia was the headquarters of that year’s NRHS convention. This nearly 2 hour program covers Different trips alone and together with 1522 and 611. Not Long after the convention comes to a close, Norfolk Southern’s New president David Goode’s first assignment is to say farewell forever to the original steam excursions meaning that 611 would be put back on display in Roanoke due to Mr. Goode’s Thoughts that running a steam engine on NS rails is too Expensive. All in all, Great mix of diesels, specials and of course the lovely deep tone steamboat whistles of 611 & 1522. 25 years after the NRHS convention in Atlanta, 1522 is still on display since the end of september and into october 2002, while 611 was one of the many mainline giants to be put on Amtrak’s Worst President Dick Anderson’s No Steam Giants allowed policy along with 261, 2926, 700, 765, 3751, 4449, 630, and 4501.
