We see early streamliners between 1934 and 1940 and then classic Union Pacific steam power from that same time period and into the 1950s
1950s scenes are around the Council Bluffs and Omaha area. Fast forward to the 1990s and we see “Living Legend” UP 844, a Northern 4-8-4 paired with Challenger 3985 in the Union Pacific steam program. FEF 844 is seen at St Louis in 1990, on ex-D&RGW Tennessee Pass line and other locations on UP. Meanwhile 3985 is covered on CSX and ex-Clinchfield lines – way out of home territory! Union Pacific lettered 3985 as Clinchfield 676 for a CSX special anniversary Santa Train. We also see the giant 4-6-6-4 Challenger on home rials to.
A bonus is the 1939 premier parade for the movie “Union Pacific”. The very rare steam turbines are in this segment.
Steam power in this show includes 4-6-2’s, 4-8-2’s, 4-8-4’s,4-12-2, 2-8-0, 2-8-2’s, 2-10-2, and a couple of Challengers plus the two steam turbines. Oher power includes FM, Alco, Baldwin diesel switchers, GP7, and one Gas Turbine.
