The biggest railroading event of 2011 was in July, 2011, in Rock Island, Illinois.Train Festival 2011 featured mainline excursions behind steam and vintage diesels, with Iowa Interstate QJ class 2-10-2’s 6988 and 7081, Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 765 and the Illinois Railway Museum’s Nebraska Zephyr taking to the mainline.Diverging Clear Productions was there to cover the excursions out of Rock Island, as well as the steam locomotives’ deadhead moves in Indiana and Iowa. The program starts as 765 deadheads across Indiana on the old Toledo, Peoria & Western west of Logansport, and then moves to Iowa as the pair of 2-10-2’s hauls 7000 tons of freight from Iowa City to Rock Island. Later that same day, 765 completes her deadhead move from Peoria to Rock Island.Excursion trains seen include both 765 and the Zephyr to Bureau, Illinois, QJ 6988 to Iowa City, and all three steam locomotives on the shorter Walcott trips. After the last excursion arrives in Rock Island, it is back on the road with 765 as the locomotive begins its deadhead move back to Indiana on the old T.P.& W.This video features over an hour of mainline footage. If you were there or are a fan of vintage steam and diesel power, you are sure to enjoy this DVD from Diverging Clear Productions. The main program runs 66 minutes, with additional bonus footage and previews of other titles.

In the Diverging Clear version of this over 10-year-old event, there is a big variety of steam, diesels, & unusual surprises in the Mississippi River area. Other producers like Yard Goat Images, Revelation Video, & C. Vision Productions were also there for the once in a lifetime special.
First comes NKP 765 heading to the festival from Logansport Indiana on a super hot day, as well as on 2 excursions, plus heading back home to Fort Wayne.
Meanwhile, Iowa Interstate QJ 7081 looks exactly the same as it did in 2006, but sister engine 6988 got transformed into an Americanized Look that is equipped with a Deep-toned Illinois Central Steamboat Whistle. Here 6988 leads 7081 on a really long 55 car freight train, as well as on 2 excursions while 7081 is on a short trip under a really hot sun, not to mention a 2006 flashback.
On the last day of the festival, the Nebraska Zephyr from the Illinois Railway Museum heads to Bureau Wye & back.
Aside from the 2011 footage, there is a bonus flashback to Michigan in July of 2009, with not only 765, but also a visit from Southern Pacific 4449 that traveled all the way from Portland Oregon.
