A Great Gathering of steam locomotives, vintage aircraft, and classic road vehicles took place in and around Owosso, Michigan in June, 2014. This huge event, called Train Expo 2014, was organized by the non-profit Steam Railroading Institute. SRI is located in Owosso on the site of the former Ann Arbor Railroad’s steam shops and roundhouse. It’s most prized possesion is 2-8-2 Pere Marquette 1225.

Our DVD program provides a front-row seat as we follow 1225 and the seven visiting steam locomotives (Nickel Plate 765, Flagg Coal Company 75, Lehigh Valley Coal Company 126, Little River 1, Little River 110, Viscose Company 6, and Leviathan 63) pulling dozens of trains. Our team of videographers captured the steam trips as well as loving closeups of the locomotives on display and while moving around the SRI site.

We also deliver some highlights of the road vehicles displayed at the Baker College Auto/Diesel Institute campus, and include extensive coverage at Owosso Community Airport, which featured a P-51 Mustang, a B-17, a B-25, a C-47, biplanes, the Misty Blues All Woman Skydiving Team, plus additional vintage and private aircraft.

In the Official DVD of Train Expo 2014, the iconic Polar Express Berkshire wore a Norfolk & Western whistle as well as its own Pere Marquette Whistle operated on not only all-day trips out of Owosso, but there are also appearances by WWII Air Crafts, & even most of the visiting steam engines that attended 1225’s home base just like TrainFestival 2009: NKP 765, Little River 1 & 110, Viscose 6, Flagg Coal 75, & Central Pacific 63 the Leviathan. Unfortunately, the 2014 reunion didn’t feature Southern Pacific Daylight 4449 due to the fact that the red & orange northern was disassembled for a 1472 day boiler inspection, & filling in the appearance for the 1941 Lima Ohio built 4-8-4, was Lehigh Valley 126 which was also owned by the same team that owned number 75. Aside from YGI, other producers like Dynamo Productions, & Big Jim Video Productions were also there for the nearly 10 year old event in the Michigan Farmlands.

Just like with many of the Yard Goat Images Titles that Steve Mitchell made, there is minimal narration at the beginning of the segment, while the rest have live audio with on-screen subtitles.
