A visit to Western New England wouldn’t be complete without a ride on the Berkshire Scenic Railroad that was located in the Greater Pittsfield area through the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts.
Before the excursion is underway, there is an interview with Dave Brown that includes still images from the early years of the trains in the Hoosac Tunnel are, to some tourist lines like a since moved 10 wheeler steam engine on Maine’s Belfast & Moosehead Lake, & also stock footage of Canadian National 7470 on the Winter 2008 trip on the Conway Scenic Railroad.
Aside from the trackside angles with photo runbys including the historic Canaan Connecticut station near the diamond, there is also footage from onboard the coaches.
Motive power for the May 2008 special consists of Housatonic Railway Alco RS-3M number 9935, & former New York Central EMD SW-8 number 8619 with 7 coaches. Later there is some pacing on the return trip.
