It’s post-merger, but Southern Pacific and Cotton Belt paint still dominates. See over 50 trains in Indiana and Illinois. We’ll be on the SPCSL (SP Chicago St. Louis) route and on EJ&E, Belt Railway of Chicago and GTW tracks.
Locations include Wilmington, Dwight, Odell, Pontiac, Chenoa, Bloomington, Lincoln, Naperville, Eola, Bedford Park, Chicago, and Griffith. Lots of pre-merger paint, but we also see some merger consists with Union Pacific joining the Southern Pacific family of paint schemes.
This is vintage nineties footage, shot using nineties equipment. It is not as sharp as programs shot today. Still, these are interesting scenes, many not covered elsewhere, and the narration is informative and top notch.
