Made in 2005 in Co-Operation with the California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento, Family Ties actor Mike Gross, explains the history of the rise & fall of one of the most iconic streamliners from San Francisco to Los Angeles along the Pacific Ocean, as well as Interviews with Art Llyod, Donald Olsen, Richard Wright, Clifford Black, Jeff Root, Jack Walston, & Stephen Drew. Aside from the vintage films of Steam on the SP with the Red & Orange 4-8-4s & other engines from mountain class 4-8-2s to the mighty articulated Cab Forwards, & early diesels from EMD F-Units to Alco FPA-4s, there is also a modern era segment on Amtrak’s Coast Starlight that retrace the original route, & even a one shot look at one of the 2 surviving SP Northerns: 4449.
