This un-narrated show contains lots of silent films of the Chicago, South Shore, & South Bend Railroad in Northeastern Illinois, & Northwestern Indiana, which includes a nice drawing of one of the coaches with a face on the front in the opening titles.
Locations include the Roosevelt Ave depot, Calumet River Bridge, Hegewisch, Hammond IN, Indiana Toll Road, East Chicago Bypass with some pacing, Gary with one of the railroads’ 3 Little Joes on a caboose hop, East Gary with 2 former New York Central Box Cabs switching some cars, Miller with another Little Joe, the Ideal Section with a cab ride & more pacing, Ogden Dunes, Tremont, Beverly Shores depot, Burns Harbor with a cab ride, Street Running in Michigan City with the town’s own shops & Little Joe 803 doing some switching which is now operational for special occasions at the Illinois Railway Museum, New Carlisle, Bendix depot at South Bend, Homewood Yard with a cab ride, Jackson Street underneath, Monroe underground, Washington underground, Belmont underground, & other unidentified spots in the Greater Chicago Area.
Aside from the South Shore Line, there are other Road Names like Chessie System, Chesapeake & Ohio, Conrail, Illinois Central with it’s own electric cars & diesels, the Chicago Transit Authority Subway System, Chicago & Northwestern with F units on Bi-Level Commuter service, & Metra Commuter Rail.
All of these footages have a nice Jazz music background.
