In 1992, George traveled to Fort Madison, Iowa to capture the action on the Santa Fe Transcon. Spending 3 days at this busy location, George captured all the action that rolled through town in daylight hours. Locomotive numbers and models are documented, but not train symbols. You will see examples of nearly every road locomotive used on the Santa Fe in 1992.
As A bonus to the Santa Fe action, you will also witness some action on the parallel Burlington Northern and some switching in the yard by the Toledo, Peoria and Western. This is Volume 4 in the George Redmond Railfanning series.
NOTE: No narration. This is vintage nineties footage, shot using vintage nineties equipment. It is not as sharp as programs shot today. Still, these are interesting scenes of long-gone railroads and equipment.
SantaFeChick –
You can never go wrong with the Santa Fe as I have yet to find a Santa Fe video I did not like.
The only let down was the lack of narration, however, that was expected as it clearly states that fact on the back cover. Each train on the video has the each locomotive identified with an on screen graphic. No train symbols are given, also expected, the quality of the video and quantity of trains makes up for these shortfalls.
This is a “must own” title for any true Santa Fe aficionado.
