We’ll take you on the road with this awesome machine for her initial three-day ferry move from Birmingham, Alabama to Roanoke, Virginia. Then you will be on hand for 1218’s first public excursion westbound from Roanoke over the rugged Radford Division to Bluefield, West Virginia. This is spectacular mountain railroading at its best. The following day, 1218 tackles the famous Blue Ridge Grade on the way to Lynchburg on a morning run, and in the afternoon travels west over Christiansburg Mountain to Walton.
