Nokomis Rails, CN’s Watrous Sub and CP & CN at Nokomis

The Watrous Sub: We begin our look at the Canadian National Watrous Sub at the crew change point of Melville, Saskatchewan. Melville is where the CN Rivers Sub becomes the Watrous Sub. From Melville we travel northwesterly (towards Saskatoon) on the line with fine railfan stops at Fenwood & Hubbard Sidings, Kelliher & Raymore. Eventually we find Nokomis where the Canadian Pacific Lanigan Sub crosses. As we’ll see, Nokomis is always an excellent location for railfan video adventures. One Hour.

12 Hours at Nokomis: In the second half of our railfan adventure we return to Nokomis. This time we spend the day to get a good look at this hot spot. CN trains dominate, but CP gives us an interesting show, including a Herzog train led by a Central Maine & Quebec unit followed by a nearly 50 year old CP SD40-2. It’s a colorful day of trains with a nice variety of freight action on both railroads. One Hour.
