Follow the Boston & Maine’s “Mountaineer” out of Boston to Intervale and then on to Crawford Notch via the Maine Central. Once in New Hampshire we scoot over to Bartlett and spend a full day, dawn to dusk, on Maine Central’s Mountain Division.
Every train run by the MEC on this day in the early 1950s is covered: Freights, passengers, mixed trains and the pushers that worked those trains. And that’s not all! You’ll get up close to the steam power when we head to the roundhouse. This is a true documentary of every train running at the time and all in color during the MEC’s last year of steam on that line! Produced with the cooperation of the B&M Railroad Historical Society.
