CSX Cumberland Sub (USA Series #29)

The first part of the program focuses on Cumberland, MD, with scenes of the CSX locomotive shops yard, the Amtrak station, and grade crossings just north of the station (left) and near Viaduct Junction. We view the Western Maryland Scenic Railway “Mountain Limited” at their Cumberland terminus and at Helmstetter’s curve.

After a brief visit to Hyndman, PA, we head east from Cumberland to Green Spring, Great Cacapon, Martinsburg, and Shenandoah Junction (below), where the Norfolk Southern Hagerstown District flies over the CSX, before finishing our journey at Harpers Ferry. Vantage points within the historic town include views of and from the station, and of the wooden trestle (right) on the Shenandoah Subdivision, and across the Potomac River in Maryland from the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Trail, and the spectacular view from Maryland Heights.

Most scenes offer multi-camera action, providing varied and additional views of the wide selection of motive power on the passing trains.
