We’re back on Florida’s West Coast for the second volume of this 2 volume series. We again hit Tampa, where we see the Sarasota Champion connection, Sulphur Springs, and TN Tower before moving on to the Seaboard Coast Line’s busy “A” Line from Lake Alfred through Haines City, Orlando, Sanford and Deland to Jacksonville Terminal.
From the “A” Line we jump to the “S” Line at Lawtey, Ocala, Wildwood, Winter Haven, West Lake Wales, West Palm Beach and a brief stop at Ft. Lauderdale.
This 1968- to 1974 action features passenger trains with SCL E Units, Amtrak SDP40Fs, SCL’s Doodlebug, SCL freight power, and the much chased Auto Train! We also see, even at this late date, a couple of steam switchers at a sand mine near Brooksville. As a bonus, you’ll see Seaboard’s passenger service training film, “The Way to a Man’s Heart” with great views of dining cars.
Kelly Hinchy –
Bought both volumes, 1 and 2, I liked them both, not alot that I have seen on Florida railroads so I am glad this DVD
exists.
