Join the crew in the cab of an ALCo Century, A&M C420 #60. This locomotive has served several railroads, starting out at Lehigh Valley #413 before heading to Conrail and then D&H before arrving on A&M property.

The track of the Arkansas & Missouri has also served several railroads. This 140 miles of railroad (Monnett, Missouri to Van Buren, Arkansas) spent most of its life as a Frisco line as part of a Texas route. Burlington Northern bought the Friscon and then BNSF got the line in the BN/Santa Fe merger.

In the late 1980s the A&M took over and has been running the line ever since. That’s quite the longevity record for a shortline. Be a part of all that history when you hit the cab of this 1964 C420, on this line built in the early 1900s.

In October of 2004, the late Roger Holmes rode the rails on this former Frisco line between Springdale & Fort Smith through the Ozark Mountains which back in those days, the A&M was still operating its variety of Alco diesel locomotives such as the C-420s & C-424s for instance before the motive power was replaced by today’s SD70ACEs.

Judging by the monitor in the cab, the entire trip was filmed on October 21, 2004 when the weather is wet but there are still some lovely colors on the trees.

The Springdale depot has a model railroad layout in the gift shop, while the station at Fayetteville has different coaches & a caboose on display.

There are a variety of scenes from the cab of an Alco, the rear of the coach, & also trackside with some pacing as well as commentaries from the driver of the cab ride.
