Run eastbound from Stockton’s intermodal freight terminal into the canyon. Ride the cab of a UP C40-8W from Stockton up into the Feather River Canyon, with numerous meets, until darkness ends the video for that day. The next day we see some trackside views in the canyon, then at Portola, we join an SD60M with a double stack train for a ride down the canyon. Shot in 1996 with Union Pacific power in the lead.

From Rowlingstock Productions of Australia, shot by Colin Eggleston, edited by Rowlingstock.

Poor image quality, more trackside footage than cab ride footage, dont bother with this one, Tony didnt film this.

If you are looking for a great cab ride video in Feather River…. this ain’t it. If you are looking for a decent video of trains in Feather River… this is ok. While there are cab ride scenes, there is also much video from the ground watching them pass by. The scenery is nice, and the trains we see are good. But disappointing based on the name of the video. I was expecting something better.

This one is rather misleadingly classified as a cab ride. Much of the footage is from lineside rather than in the cab. The line is too long to be captured in a single program, so coverage is very incomplete. In particular, there’s very little cab ride footage in the more rugged and inaccessible parts of the canyon, which i found very disappointing. Some of the lineside footage is great, but this one doesn’t really qualify as a cab ride in my book – more of a general look at the route. I’d love to see a full cab ride through the canyon! This ain’t it ………….
