The BNSF Transcon line runs from Chicago to Los Angeles, and goes through many scenic areas along the way. One such place is the portion of the line in Oklahoma. In this program, we follow the Transcon from the state lines of Kansas and Texas through western Oklahoma over the steep Curtis Hill grade. This is heavy duty mainline railroading, and by the time trains reach the top of Curtis Hill, they are often down to a crawl. A really interesting place to watch trains. Follow trains from Kiowa, Kansas to Higgins, Texas through western Oklahoma. Watch trains crawling up the steep grade of Curtis Hill. See many grain elevator towns. Enjoy the change of scenery as the line takes on a more “western” feel. Enjoy great contemporary freight action on one of BNSF’s busiest lines.
