This is the B&O as the last of her mainline steam was being run, as they awaited replacement by diesel. The big steam engines don’t know their fate and look as strong and proud as they always have.
This is the B&O’s western lines with film shot in Fostoria, Willard, Deshler, Attica, K Tower, Galatea, Sterling, at the Warwick four track coaling tower, Toledo and Stanley Yard. We’ll see different classes and wheel arrangements: 2-10-2, 4-82, 2-8-2, 4-6-2 even a 2-8-8-4. We also get footage of the 1957 Illini Railroad Club’s Chicago to Willard excursion being #5555.
These are rare railfan films and presented here for the thrill, joy and history of seeing steam engines as they used to run. 8mm color and B&W film, silent with music. No narration/sound.
