American Queen, Cruise St. Louis to St. Paul

Come aboard the world’s largest steam riverboat for a cruise from St. Louis to St. Paul. This is a 685 mile, 7 night cruise on the upper Mississippi River – and one of the most popular cruises offered by the Delta Queen Steamboat Company, owner of the American Queen. The program includes details of the boat with an engine room tour, an interview with Captain John Davitt and locking through three of the 27 locks and dams on the river. Along the way we’ll make stops at Hannibal, Missouri, Dubuque, Iowa, LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and Red Wing, Minnesota and have wonderful scenic views of the river bank and life on the river.

Then, we’ll follow the boat from St. Paul to Keokuk, Iowa as it returns downstream with a stop at Winona, Minnesota. You’ve seen the beauty of the river from the boat, now see the beauty of the boat from the river!

We also visit steamboat museums at Dubuque, Clinton and Keokuk where preserved sternwheelers are on display. a visit to the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium at Dubuque features a towboat pilot simulator where you’ll learn the challenge of piloting tows on the river.
