The Illinois Central existed for nearly a century and a half and this program covers the last sixty years from 1938 to the winter of 1998-99, the independent I.C.’s last.
br>This is the most recent title from Diverging Clear Productions, released on December 4, 2015. This program was five years in the making, shot between July, 2011, and September, 2015.
br>All four engines to handle mainline excursions as a part of the 21st Century Steam Program are featured: Southern Railway 2-8-0 #630 and 2-8-2 #4501, Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 #765 and Norfolk & Western 4-8-4 #611. Also featured is a look back at the original steam program with #611, Norfolk & Western 2-6-6-4 #1218 and St. Louis & San Francisco 4-8-2 #1522.
br>Both #630 and #4501 are featured on Tennessee Valley trips, and running without diesel assistance on trips between Chattanooga and Cleveland, Tennessee. #765 is featured on trips in Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Pennsylvania; running on former Wabash rails and on the former Pennsylvania Railroad route through Altoona and around Horseshoe Curve. #611 is featured on a pair of Lynchburg to Petersburg, Virginia, trips in June, 2015.
br>This is the only DVD that covers all locomotives operated as part of Norfolk Southern’s 21st Century Steam Program, and features classic scenes of of big steam in action on the mainline.

    1. 4501 to Lafayette Georgia in 1995-1998 before the extension to Summerville

    2. 611 in 1992-1994

    3. 1218 in 1987-1991

    4. 1522 in 1988 with 2 doubleheaders from 611 to the 1994 NRHS Convention in Atlanta

    5. 630 in Chattanooga during 2011

    6. 630 on the NS mainline in 2012 & 2013 only

    7. 4501’s second revival in late 2014 to Summerville & back

    8. 4501 to Cleveland Tennessee & back in 2015 only

    9. 765 on the NS in 2012-2015 only although it filled in for 611 & C&O 2716 in 1982 only

    Great snippets of overall wonderful memories. If you like this combination of mainline steam variety, then you will want to watch this DVD multiple times over. These are all world-famous locomotives… You can’t go wrong with this one.
