We get a look at the Southern through two of her own promotional films: “Piggyback Southern Style”, made in the early 1960s, and “Via Sevier” a film that follows two box cars through the system in the 1950s.

Part 2 of this series covers the final 15 years of operation in the Keystone State. Vintage diesels abound, but we’ll also see the Readings famous T1 4-8-4s power The Rambles at several locations around the system.

The Reading Company was the favorite railroad of Allentown, Pennsylvania native Charles Houser, Sr, who filmed throughout the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Steam and Diesel are included in this rare color and black & white film.

Part 2 of this series begins with a look at the Ft Wayne Division between Chicago and Crestline, OH before moving east to the Ohio/Pennsylvania border at Wood Tower and then Horseshoe Curve and environs.

Part 1 of this series is a look at the Penn Central in Ohio and Indiana.

This program includes mostly 16mm color and black/ white film of Steam and Diesel action during the 1930s-40s-50s-and 60s in Massachusetts, Eastern New York, Ohio and Indiana. Beginning in Boston on the Boston and Albany, the program moves west along the NYCs Water Level Route.

Vignettes of the Milwaukee Road covers this colorful railroad from Chicago, through its hometown of Milwaukee to St. Paul. Along the way, you’ll see lightning fast passenger trains with skytop observation cars, pulled by E- and F-units, freights behind Fs and GP40s, locals behind ALCo RS units, and more.

Reaching from Chicago to Colorado and the Mexican border in Texas, the Missouri Pacific Lines colorful history merged with that of the Union Pacific in 1986. This program recalls the Eastern End of the system from the Chicago area to St Louis and Kansas City from the mid-1950s to 1981.

Volume 3 covers The Big Little Railroad for almost its entire length from Jersey City to the Scranton, Pennsylvania vicinity during its final 15 years. Among the many locations featured are Communipaw, Bound Brook, Bethlehem, Allentown, Lehighton and Jim Thorpe. Cab views too!

Part 2 of the EL series picks up where Part 1 left off and covers the years 1970 to 1976. We’ll see EL, Penn Central, Chessie System and Norfolk and Western action at AC Tower and get a look at the Marion Humpyard, a trip down the Dayton Branch, and east of Marion to Galion and Mansfield.

Like spokes on a wheel, 4 major railroads converged on Marion, Ohio from 5 directions. For the NYC, C&O and Pennsylvania to cross at one location would assure a busy junction – but add the Erie Lackawanna with its major yard and locomotive shop – and Marion is elevated to a train watching mecca. Part One of this two part look at the “Friendly Service Route” takes place in the busy 1960s.
