We’ll visit the industrial lines in the Lehigh River Valley and then work our way west to the coal regions in the Wyoming Valley.
Here is a diverse collection of scenes over the Lehigh New England Railroad and Lehigh & Hudson River Railway sister bridge routes from the Lehigh Valley to Maybrook.
Join the Bednar’s in Volume 2 as they railfan the northeastern fallen flags and other facilities between the years 1969 thru 1971. This film outing even includes the original Steamtown in Vermont.
Failing revenues forced the Lehigh & New England Railroad to cease operations in 1961. Volume 3 follows the transition from L&NE operations, into the Lehigh & New England Railway, Lehigh Valley, Conrail and now Norfolk Southern.
Filmed between 1954 and 1961, we’ll view operations in the cement belt from Bath to Martins Creek, including joint switching of the Northampton & Bath, Lackawanna and the Erie Lackawanna railroads.
The Lehigh & New England was a rarely photographed hometown railroad which traversed a tumultuous scenic route through Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York states. In Volume 1 we’ll look at operations between 1949 and 1961.
