It is not our intent to recreate battle scenes or stories through modern day documentaries. Rather this is what the people on the “Home Front” would have seen during the war. This collection includes 8 Black and White, silent with titled information – exactly as presented to the public during the war. Since the footage is silent, an audio track of background music has been added. Just turn down the audio if you want the original silent impact! The theme is the Pacific Theater of Operations and begins with the aftermath of Pearl Harbor, and ends with the surrender of Japan.

In between you will see a wide variety of events such as the attack on the Philippines with a profile of General MacArthur, the U.S. striking back with a daring raid on Japan as B-25 bombers led by General Doolittle fly off the Aircraft Carrier Hornet, Battles of the Coral Sea and Midway, and much more. Each film runs approximately 10 minutes. The eight films are: * Bombing of Pearl Harbor, * Philippines attacked/General MacArthur, * U.S. Navy Blasts Marshall Islands, * Yanks Bomb Tokyo, * Midway and Coral Seas Battles, * Iwo Jima, * Yanks Battle For Okinawa and * Japan’s Surrender.

This very first GSVP WWII title chronicles a total of 8 10 minute Black & White Silent Films from the aftermath of the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December of 1941, to Japan’s Surrender in 1945 that were originally produced by Castle Films, with added music which some of them can also be shown on various TM Books & Video titles.

Yes, this is the exact same Castle Films that also produced “On To Washington” with the Pennsylvania Railroad which can also be found on the late Greg’s title: “Rail Industry Films”.
