Originally released on VHS only in 2001, & converted to DVD in 2009, these 1970s films with a short cartoon at the very beginning of this program provide what working on America’s superpower railroad was like when various diesels from the 3000 Series SD40-2s to the Mighty Centennial units.

This is a fine collection of these early Modern Era films to be made by the Union Pacific Historical Society as well as a nice add-on to all of the other Pentrex UPHS titles: the Last of the Giants trilogy, Big Boys on TV, The story of the M-10000, Mighty Turbines, UP Trilogy, & the Streamliner & best selling Big Boy Collections.

Here is an excellent historical video on a variety of topics involving the railroad that we rarely get to see. 6 shorter videos into one, with topics ranging from safety to general pubicity, based in the 1970’s. There is a lot of great information in this video for all railfans, and the historians will really like this one. Much of the safety practices are still very important for today and we can learn a lot from it. Pentrex has done a great job putting this one together, and needs to be commended. 5 stars all the way.
