In the first volume of the Donner Rails’ Snow Service Series, even more multiple Blizzards has fallen in the Sierra Nevada Mountains on the Former Southern Pacific route that had since been taken over by Union Pacific in 1996, as there are not only Freights on UP, SP, & BNSF with fallen flags like Chicago & Northwestern for instance, as well as Amtrak’s California Zephyr, but also lots of onboard footage, as well as a bird’s eye view of the mountains from the sky.
Commentaries, & Interviews from the crews behind the snow busting machines, & even the people who know the detail of the mainline between Reno Nevada & Sacramento California like Photographer Richard Steinheimer for example, plus music are also included as well as some vintage films & still images from the early steam years with one picture that has future famous survivor 10-Wheeler 2248 now at the Grapevine Vintage Railroad in Texas, to the January 1952 Blizzard where the Streamlined City of San Francisco was trapped for almost a whole week.
Initially enough, footage of the rescue efforts were shown in the Pentrex video: SP Film Archives part 2, with some other scenes later used in the SP Cab Forward Collection.
