Visit beautiful Oregon and Union Pacific’s three heavy mainline grades through the Blue Mountains. We’ll start at the Snake River and the Idaho state line, traveling over the mountains to Pendleton. Along the way, you will see trains crossing three steep mainline grades, Encina Hill, Telocaset Hill, and Kamela Hill.

This is the main route to the Pacific Northwest, and you will see everything from locals to manifests to double stack intermodals. This program was shot in late February, and the weather was unpredictable. One moment bright sunshine, the next heavy snow!

In the best of conditions, the grades of the Blue Mountains are formidable challenges to railroading; winter weather adds a new layer of difficulty. Railway Productions does a great job of capturing the feel of trains struggling against the landscape and the elements — the videography is very well done, the scenery is spectacular and the weather will make you glad you’re railfanning the Blue Mountains from your living room. A nice addition to any collection.

This 2011 DVD features mainline freight trains battling up on one of the most steepest climbs in Northwestern railroading history. Excellent camera work and the scenery is nice too. Some Clips from “844 Still Going Strong” are also included. And unfortunately, this was the Final Railway Productions video to have Lane Venardos narrating. Starting with Narrow Gauge Adventure, and Western Maryland Autumn Steam onwards the following October of 2011, Les Jarrett Himself is back in the narrating Business.

What a great film this. You see Union Pacific’s main line going to and from the great Northwest. You see a variety of trains in this film from the local ones , to the manifest ones, to the awesome double stacked cars. Lots of great scenery with lots of snow and sun. 5 Stars for this one.

See some really great scenery and some fast paced train actions on UP’s artery to and from the Northwest. witness anything from stack trains to grain trains as they tackle the lue mountains of Oregon.

This is the UP’s main line to and from the Northwest. This DVD does a good job showing us the variety of traffic on this line, from locals to manifests to the latest double stack intermodal trains. It’s mid-winter and so we see snow, but it is nto entirely snow and storms, the sun helps us out and we see the trains very well.
