The Council Bluffs Subdivision of the Union Pacific Railroad is the busiest main line in North America. It is also home to the largest railroad classification yard in the world! C. Vision tours a portion of the Sub starting at Bailey Yard in North Platte, Nebraska. From there we move east along the line, viewing many runbys through the Sandhills region, and onto the vast cornfields of Nebraska.

The video concludes in Grande Island at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe’s flyover. There, we view movement on both the Union Pacific and the BNSF Ravenna Subdivision, which moves mostly Wyoming coal. Lots of modern power from EMD SD40-2’s, SD 90-43’s and GE Dash 9-60AC’s are seen in charge of the fast freight on the Council Bluffs Subdivision.

Cornhusker….. the name is Nebraska. Vast agricultural region, known for “corn growing” as the name indicates. There is not many hills in the region covered, some may even say that the scenery is down right boring. But….. trains….. lots of long heavy trains working hard to deliver coal, grain, and all the other products needed to keep America going. North Platte to Grand Island is the feature location. 2/3’s is triple track today. The video is packed full of exciting railroad action. Grand Island is every bit as good as anywhere on the kine with BNSF’s crossing of the Union Pacific. If you have been to the region, you will want this video. Once you see the video, you will want to go and see the region in person. I know, because I have made the 1,600km trip to see it in person. When it comes to train volume, this is likely the best place in the USA to see trains and the video does not disappoint.
