Union Pacific Odyssey Volume 2 from the camera of Emery Gulash takes you on a fantastic journey where Volume 1 left off. Volume 2 covers the 60s and 70s. You will see more first generation diesels, ‘City’ trains, New second generation diesels, more Big Blows (turbines), the Centennial locomotives, and DD-35’s as well as many other older diesels. The Golden Spike Centennial at Promontory Point in 1969 is prominently covered including special trains from parts of the U.S. which converged on the scene for the reenactment. Many of those trains were pulled by steam! If you like steam, passenger trains and first generation diesels, then this beautiful production from the camera of world renowned rail photographer Emery Gulash is a production you won’t want to miss. Original material from 16mm color film.

    Made in 1993, part 1 of volume 2 contains the spots of Rawlins, Creston, Salt Wells, Rock Springs, Castle Rock in Weber Canyon, Emory, Devil’s Slide, Morgan, Peterson, American Fort, Hays, South Byron, Buffalo, Conneaut, Ft. Wayne, Moberly, Ellis, Laramie, Promontory Summit during the 100th birthday of the Golden Spike in 1969, Ogden, Clearfield, & Keysville.

    Besides the UP with 8444 & replicas of 119 & Central Pacific 60 the Jupiter, there are other road names like SP, NKP with 759, NYC, US Army 2-8-0 612, N&W, Amtrak, C&NW, & AT&SF. Fun Fact: Actor John Wayne was onboard 6900’s consist.

    Locations for part 2 has Topeka, Sidney, east of Cheyenne, Hanna, Sinclair, Green River, Bitter Creek Canyon, Granger, Somonauk, Huntington, Hastings, Hayland, Rifle, Romulus, Ogallala, Roscoe, Bailey Yard in North Platte, Southern California, Archer Hill, Borie, & ends the series at Sherman Hill.

    This two-disc set picks up where Volume 1 left off, and sees Union Pacific action from the 60’s to the late 70’s. Highlights include the Golden Spike Centennial, and the introduction of the new EMD DDA40X locomotives, which arrived just in time for the celebration.
