Travel back to a time that no longer exists: The Pennsylvania Railroad, giant GG1 electrics and name passenger trains. The DVD opens with a brief history of Pennsy Electric engines showing the DD-1, the P-5 (boxcab) and P-5A (streamlined) and explains the circumstances that led to the development of the GG1. A wide variety of freight and passenger trains are shown, almost all on the high speed, four track raceway between Washington and New York: The Congressional, The Senator, The George Washington, The Crescent, The Silver Meteor and many others.

Watch GG1s crossing The Great Susquehanna and the Delaware River bridges. GG1s follow the Port Road to Harrisburg, and enter and leave both Washington, D.C. and Penn Station in New York. See Sunnyside Yard where the famous “name” trains were stored and assembled and Wilmington Shops from where the GG1s departed. Even has the famous Tuscan Red GG1 #4877 in action. Closes with third rail action along the Harlem River on the New York Central and shows the New Haven FL-9s arriving and leaving 125th Street station. This is all color, except footage of the P-5s

Narration. Sunday River Productions programs may feature Color film, B&W film, Music, Dubbed Sound and still photos.

Originally made in the early 1980s, this program covers these lovely electric locomotives on this long-gone fallen flag which was a subsidiary of Norfolk Southern in the Northeast & Keystone Corridors that was shot by Mac Owen, at locations like the Wilmington Delaware shops, Berwyn, Washington DC Union Station, The Susquehanna River Bridge at Perryville Maryland, Port Road, Harrisburg with a Purina Dog Food plant building in the going away shot, the Delaware River Bridge, New York City with Penn Station & Sunnyside Yard, South Amboy New Jersey with a cab ride on 4893 in 1963 & trackside with a cameo from survivor 4877, plus 1982 coverage in the modern era from Old Big Red itself: 4877 that is, SA Tower, Harlem River, & 125th Street Station with NYC electric unit number 123.

Besides the GG1, there is also the DD-1, & P-5s, plus the P5-A, with some steam cameos, as well as some other road names in addition to the Pennsylvania Railroad like the Southern, Atlantic Coast Line, Lackawanna, NJ Transit Commuter, New York Central, & the New Haven.
