Here are the railroad hot spots in northeast Great Britain. We begin with a look at Barnetby, one of Britain’s hottest spots for freight. Trains from two oil refineries, scheduled iron ore to the steel mills at Scunthorpe, with returning empties, and coal trains run through Barnetby. Passenger trains round out the parade and make for a busy location. Barnetby also still has impressive stands of semaphore signals, and is one of the last strongholds of class 60’s. Next we visit York, with its arched roof, and finally Doncaster on the electrified West Coast Main Line.
