This is big time steam! UP 3985, Frisco 1522, Southern 4501, N&W 1218, N&W 611, NKP 587 and NKP 765 are all here! Incoming coverage includes Southern 2-8-2 4501, Norfolk & Western 2-6-6-4 1218, Norfolk & Western class J 611 on the “Independence Limited” from Kingsport to Fort Wayne, and then double-headed NKP 2-8-2 587 and NKP 2-8-4 765 Fort Wayne to Chicago. Convention coverage includes NKP 587 & 765 double-head Chicago to Argos on the old NKP mainline.
See the trip to the Illinois Railroad Museum with Frisco 2-10-0 Decapod 1530 plus a Nebraska Zephyr set, a Milwaukee Road F-Unit, BN SD9 and the South Shore Electroliner. All are operated. Next is Union Pacific 4-6-6-4 3985 Chicago To Findlay Junction. It is wonderful steam action with this “City Streamliner” look-alike, with six domes! Our camera even goes in the cab of the mighty Challenger for some exciting footage.

MAJOR kudos to Mainline Motion Pictures for this one… Every segment of this DVD, from Southern 4501, to N&W 611, to NKP 765 and 587’s doubleheader, to the Illinois Railway Museum equipment, to UP 3985… is all a railfan’s dream come true! This is a wonderful addition to ANYONE’S collection, just as the Pentrex coverage of Chicago’s 1993 NRHS Convention is.

This DVD includes many of the ferry moves and excursions that took place during the NRHS Convention in Chicago during the month of July, 1993.

In the MLMP version of the 1993 NRHS convention, the independence limited is shown with 4501, followed by 611, and then 587 & 765 on a doubleheader. The challenger cab ride was also shown in the UP steam 1981. The music in this program is amazing. Not to mention the engines of the Illinois railway museum. Both MLMP and pentrex were the official producers of the 1993 NRHS convention.

This video is pretty good. I wasn’t expecting 611 and 4501 running in the south in the beginning, but nice bonus I guess. Loved watching the 587 and the 765 pull their train through Indiana. Also really enjoyed the IRM footage.

Great footage of some of the more well known mainline steam locomotives of the 1990’s. Has great footage of the 3985’s cab and the NKP doubleheader especially!

This is by far the most the most complete & comprehensive coverage of the 93 Chicago NRHS Convention. I was there so I know. The adequate discription above tells you about what you will see on this video. Also it not only covers the Convention trips, but the N & W trips to the convention, plus the 765 & 587 double heading trip there also. So if you like big main line steam, you do not want to miss out by not having this video. It is awesome.
